Liang Bua cave


Liang Bua cave is one of the world's most important archaeological sites. On this site was found fossils of Homo floresiensis or Flores Man. Flores man's height around 100 cm and weighs only 25 kg.


 


Human skull was discovered dwarf size citrus fruit and lived about 13,000 years ago. They live together with pygmy elephants and giant lizards like the Komodo dragon.

Liang Boa Cave is located on Flores Island, in the hamlet Rampasasa precisely, the village of Liang Bua, Ruteng subdistrict, Manggarai Regency

Liang Bua cave is estimated to begin to form about 190,000 years ago. It is obtained from laboratory tests on samples of sediment in the southern corner of the cave. It is estimated that the cave was formed from the stream that carries rocks penetrate the surrounding hills. After going through a long process, the rocks become sedimentary rock.

In 2001 conducted the archaeological excavation at Liang Bua Cave, which is a collaboration between the National Archaeological Research Center with the University of New England, Australia. New archaeological research results were announced on 28 October 2004, that human fossils have been discovered dwarf or hobbit. The findings make the Liang Bua cave becomes a very attractive place to visit for tourists.
